Review on piku

The sweetest Bengali thing!

All things complex can be solved if made simple. Piku is that simple a movie. No complex storyline with no twists or extra added masala yet has all the elements of surprise, emotions, and drama. The movie's simple story is so well told that you will feel all the emotions as the characters do. The most difficult is the most simple. This simplicity is so beautifully acted by The Great Mr Senior Bachhan, Deepika, Irfan and Moushmi Chatterjee. We very rarely see a movie of this stature come our way, and when it does, it makes one fall in love with cinema all over again. The Bengali father acted by Mr Amitabh Bachhan is a genius stroke the actor has yet once again amazed us with his acting. The character Piku played by Deepika is so well managed, a headstrong gal who is independent trying to survive in this world taking care of another extremely headstrong person her father and coping up with resultant frustrations. The visual portrayal of Piku with a small bindi on the forehead and simple beautiful dresses no expose or short skirts yet a strong gal with a mind of her own with right set of values to know what she wants and how she wants to live her life with a father who can throw tantrums and talk about his daughter's sex life openly is ravishingly new but done so well by Shoojit Sircar that no where looks lose or out of place. Simply put lovely movie and a must watch.
